Spring has sprung in Eliston and the City of Casey is buzzing with exciting community events for you to get involved in. Check out some of our favourites below!

Fresh Words Young Writers Competition

When: Entries open until 22 September 2017 at 5pm.

What: Unleash your imagination and enter the Fresh Words Young Writers Competition! If you are a budding author, journalist or song writer, embrace this opportunity to put your story on paper and win some great prizes!

Cost: Free!

Who can enter: Entry is open to Casey’s young people in Grade 5 – Year 12 in the following categories:
• Creative Writing
(maximum 750 words)
• Poetry/Lyrics
(maximum one page)
• English as an additional language
(maximum 750 words)

Drawing Classes for Children

When: Monday 4 September 2017, 5:30-6:30pm

Where: 6 Tom Gearon Court, Narre Warren North 3805

What: Each student works independently with teacher Janet’s attention, using mediums like grey lead, colour pencil, pastel, watercolour pencil and pen and ink. Janet is well known for her own artwork, being a professional artist working in colour pencil and graphite.  Her classes are a great place for students to explore their interest in drawing and to learn more skills in an enjoyable environment.

Cost: Free

Who can attend: Best suited for young kids.

Schools On Stage

When: Thursday 7 September 2017, 7:30-10:30pm

Where: 500 Soldiers Road, Clyde North 3977

What: Schools on Stage will be held on Thursday 7 September at Hillcrest Christian College, hosted by Tim Campbell.
Schools on Stage celebrates the performing arts talents of Casey’s young people, whilst also encouraging them to take part in extra-curricular activities to strengthen their connection to the school community, make new friends and build important skills.

Cost:
Adult: $15.00
Child/Student: $10.00
Family of 4: $40.00

Chinese Moon Festival Celebrations

What: Celebrate the Chinese Moon Festival with the whole family at the Endeavour Hills Library! Featuring the library’s first ever book sale for Chinese Language items!

Fashionable Fabulous by Sally Van Der Schyff

When: Friday 4 August – Tuesday 3 October 2017, 10:00am-6:00pm

Where: Endeavour Hills Library, 10 Raymond McMahon Blvd, Endeavour Hills 3802

What: Artist, Cally Van Der Schyff’s elegant drawings celebrate the female form and the ageless beauty of old Hollywood glamour. Held at the Endeavour Hills Library and available for viewing during library hours.
